- Conseils de nos experts :
- Relatively sturdy and easy to acclimatise, the Centropyge bispinosa can be the first angelfish of a novice aquarium enthusiast. Medium in size with a peaceful nature, it is compatible with a volume of 150 litres for an individual or 200 litres for a couple or trio. This fish should not be put in an aquarium with other Angelfish species as a turf war could begin, especially if space is limited and the dominant fish will constantly harass the weaker fish. In a larger volume, several species (with distinct colour patterns) can live together, preferably by introducing them into the aquarium round about the same time to allow them to be able to choose a personal space without resorting to violence. At ease once acclimatised and relatively outward going for a Centropyge, it can live with all kinds of medium size coral fish with a calm temperament.
The Centropyge bispinosa is easy to find on sale and is even one of the most commonly proposed with the Centropyge bicolor and the Centropyge loricula.
It is very active during the day. It is a bright fish which swims around the decoration and threads between the rocks with quick and graceful movements. It is often seen grazing the stones: micro algae, sessile organisms, and various benthic microfauna. It can lack various nutrients in captivity. This is why the Centropyge bispinosa will start to eat fleshy hard corals and giant clam mantle. This is particularly the case of females in reproductive phase because they require quality nutrients to keep maintain laying tempo.
However, this is fairly uncommon in this species which is the most reef safe in its family. Many will never touch the coral in the aquarium their entire life. If you see a fish begin to eat the coral, which is not certain, you need to try to appease the Centropyge bispinosa by offering it a maximum of different types of thawed high quality flesh foods (mysis, enriched brine shrimp, chopped krill lobster eggs, etc.), chopped mussels or shellfish, and a daily ration of vegetation, such as soft spirulina pellets, and, if you can find it, special preparations for angel fish (available in frozen cubes called "pygmy angel formula" or "angel formula").
If you have a large volume, containing herbivorous fish which you feed with dried nori leaves, you will see your Centropyge bispinosa come and eat them. Likewise, pygmy angelfish will come eat their share of mussels or shellfish given as feed.
Centropyge bispinosa is also often a scavenger and even sometimes coprophagous helping to recycle aquarium waste before it pollutes!
Most Centropyges easily acclimatise to dry food (flakes and granules).
Its average life expectancy is ten years. - Paramètre physico chimique de l’eau :
